Hannah lived a long, long time ago in Israel—about 3,000 years ago! Even though she faced some really tough problems that made her very sad, Hannah never gave up on talking to God. Her faith was so strong that it changed her life in the most wonderful way!

Hannah became the mother of Samuel, who grew up to be one of the most important prophets in the whole Bible 🌟.

🏡 Hannah lived during a time called "the period of the Judges" in Israel. This was before there were any kings ruling the country! People would travel to a special place called Shiloh to worship God at a tent-like temple called the Tabernacle.

🧓 Hannah was married to a man named Elkanah, who loved her very much. But Elkanah had another wife too (this was allowed back then), named Peninnah. Having two wives in one family created some big problems!

👶 Hannah couldn't have any children, which made her super sad. In those days, not having children was considered one of the worst things that could happen to a woman. To make matters worse, Peninnah (who had lots of children) would tease Hannah and make fun of her.

🙏 Every year, Hannah's family would travel to Shiloh to worship God and offer sacrifices. They would have a special feast there, but Hannah was often too sad to eat because she wanted a baby so badly.

🌟 Hannah's name means "grace" or "favor" in Hebrew. Isn't that cool? Even though she didn't feel very favored at first, her name ended up being perfect for her story!

🎁 Hannah made a very special promise to God: if He gave her a son, she would give him back to God to serve Him all his life! This was called a "Nazirite vow," which meant Samuel would never cut his hair and would live a special life dedicated to God's work.

📖 The Saddest Dinner Party

Every year, Hannah's family would pack up their things and travel to the special worship place called Shiloh. It was supposed to be a happy time with delicious food and celebrations! But for Hannah, these trips were extra difficult 😢.

While everyone else was enjoying the feast, Hannah would sit quietly, pushing food around her plate, her eyes filling with tears.

"Why aren't you eating?" her husband Elkanah would ask, concerned. "Don't be sad, Hannah. Don't I mean more to you than ten sons?"

He loved her very much, but he didn't fully understand how deeply Hannah was hurting. Meanwhile, Peninnah would whisper mean things and brag about her children. Ouch!

But this particular year, something inside Hannah changed. She decided to take her biggest problem straight to God himself! 🌟

📖 Hannah's Amazing Prayer

After dinner, Hannah slipped away from the table and headed toward the Tabernacle. Her heart was pounding as she found a quiet corner to pray. This wasn't going to be just any prayer—Hannah was ready to pour out everything she had been feeling for years!

She began to pray so intensely that her lips were moving, but no sound came out! 🙏 Big tears rolled down her cheeks as she made a promise to God: "Lord, if you will look upon my misery and give me a son, I will give him back to you. He will serve you all the days of his life!"

Suddenly, an old man appeared beside her. It was Eli, the high priest! He frowned at Hannah and said something very embarrassing: "How long will you keep on getting drunk? Put away your wine!"

Hannah was shocked! "No, sir!" she explained quickly. "I haven't been drinking wine. I'm just very sad and I've been pouring my heart out to the Lord."

When Eli understood what was happening, his face softened. "Go in peace," he said kindly. "May the God of Israel give you what you have asked of Him."

Hannah felt a wonderful lightness in her heart as she walked away. Something amazing had just happened—she felt hope for the first time in years! 🌈

📖 A Promise Kept

Not long after her special prayer, Hannah discovered she was going to have a baby! When her son was born, she named him Samuel, which means "heard by God" because God had heard her prayer 👶. Hannah was so, so happy! She hugged and kissed her little boy and taught him about God's love every day.

But Hannah hadn't forgotten her promise! When Samuel was old enough (probably about 3 years old), she took him back to the Tabernacle at Shiloh. This must have been one of the hardest things she ever did!

"Do you remember me?" she asked Eli. "I'm the woman who stood here praying to the Lord. I asked for this child, and God gave him to me. Now I'm giving him back to God, just as I promised!"

Little Samuel stayed with Eli at the Tabernacle, learning to serve God from a very young age. Every year, Hannah would visit him and bring him a new robe she had made with her own hands.

The Bible tells us that Samuel grew up to become one of the most important prophets in all of Israel! He would eventually anoint the first kings of Israel—King Saul and King David! 👑

And guess what? After giving Samuel to God, Hannah was blessed with five more children! God gave her a whole family to love and care for. Her story of sadness turned into a story of incredible joy and blessing!
